I first got to Sindome around July of 2003. I'm fascinated with the
cyberpunk culture and have been looking for any sort of text-based
game with the theme, and searching for one brought me to Sindome.

Unlike a MUD, Sindome revolves mostly around roleplaying, with a bit
of stats, money, and whatnot to provide a physical base for the
roleplay to work off of. The overall feeling of the MOO is very dark
and foreboding, but not unplayable. It is a bit hard to get started
when you're new, but the staff is friendly and the people there are
fun and helpful. Of course, you have to remember than ICly they
probably want to backstab you and steal your money, but the players
are nice and are there to help build a unique roleplay experience. The
way the website ties in with the MOO is unique as well, and adds some
immersiveness into the game. I say it's a 3 out of 5.

Update on my review of Sindome. I admit I wrote the review without
having really gotten into the game as much as I thought I did. Only a
short time after writing the review, a period of a week or two, I
found out truly how hard it is to get into the game. While it has a
great idea and all, the problem with Sindome is the real lack of
interaction between the staff and the players. While I was under the
impression that the staff cared, later it appeared more as a facade.
Player interaction was few and far between. They seem interested in
seeing new players come in, but more along the lines of sizing up the
newbies to see who to kill.

In my revised opinion, although Sindome has the capacity and the
potential to be a fun roleplaying environment, lack of interaction
between veteran players/staff and newcomers makes for a difficult
roleplaying and gaming experience.

I think I would be considered a veteran player of Sindome. It is a
hard game to get into ICly because of the complex interactions between
players. Sindome is a dog eat dog world, where everyone is out to get
each other. If you mess with the wrong person, yes, you are going to
end up dead, but that holds true in reality.

Sindome is about cyberpunk roleplaying, and it's not very CP to hold
someones hand unless you see yourself getting something out of it.
Players and Staff alike are friendly Out of Character, but wouldn't
be CP game if everyone walks around happy and content. On Sindome you
can really, really, get into your character, so it's only natural to
feel some out of character anger when something bad happens to your
character.

Instead of getting upset about it, look at it as an oppertunity. Some
of the best roleplaying I have had on Sindome has been when my
character has been getting screwed over, left and right. Instead of
looking at it as a personal attack against yourself, you need to think
of it as your character would think of it, and react accordingly.
