GreaterMUD is a faithful remake of MajorMUD. Both the mud engine and the telnet server it runs on (TGS) were both written completely from scratch in C#. I want to stress the fact that GreaterMUD *does not* use WorldGroup so the sysop does not have to shell out oodles of cash for WorldGroup.
GreaterMUD has been in development for over three years now and an enormous amount of effort has gone into this project to make sure it looks and feels just like MajorMUD. It is 100% MegaMUD compatible so legacy MajorMUD players will be right at home getting around the realm. For those that don't know what MegaMUD is, it is a very well written client program designed specifically to help MajorMUD players navigate the realm and allow AFK scripting.
