Elephant Mud

Elephant Mud is one of the older, larger and more advanced muds out on the net today, with a wealth of experience behind it. Offering a wealth of features not found on its competitors, it brings totally unique guilds, noble Houses, sophisticated multi-classing, bloodlines, stamina, player run newspapers, exploration rewards, and much much more to an arena awash with 'stock' alternatives.

Elephant Mud allows PK, but it is socially controlled. The town Council can bounty, fine, jail and execute people for breaking the law. Laws are both set and enforced by players and Council have sophisticated investigative tools as their disposal. A clever criminal still has a chance of course, and the fight between law and chaos goes on eternally.

The mud is set in a medieval/dark ages world, where magic, not science, is the key area of research. Humans, Dwarves, Elves and many other races rub shoulders and work with (and against) each other to defend, or bring down the town of Drakenwood and its environs. It is a dangerous world, but a world equally of great rewards, and truely has something for everyone.

Elephant Mud has 3000-4000 regular players, many of which have been playing for in excess of 5 years with a notable number who have been here for 7, 8, 9 or even 10 years. With longevity like that we invite you to come and find out for yourself what all the fuss is about. Who knows, you may even decide to stay!

I have been playing EleMUD for a short while and it's been a great experience so far. This MUD is extremely addictive, has a rich world and a very friendly playerbase. There are eight classes to choose from, each with a different playstyle and 12 different races so it's fair to say that there is a lot of potential for customization. Add to this heaps of weapon types and equipment to choose from and dozens of skills as well as the possibility to choose a secondary class at higher levels. The mud is also very polished and the wizards pay a lot of attention to what the playerbase thinks. I definitely recommend trying it as it's really a good time . See you in game!

A world of fantasy and excitement! I've been playing in the world of elephant (or the western realms) since i was a teenager, and im now well into my 30's. Whether you're a noob or veteran to MUD's elephant has it all! a mix of races&classes, deed, quests. A player run council, a family and house system. If you're looking for a friendly atmosphere to idly xp, or power your way through the levels come give us a try. We would love you see you around!

Love the mud! Been playing it for ten years and still love it. It's a creative mud and Larnen/wizards have sacrificed a great deal of time and effort to make this mud. It's a challenging mud however the commands are easy to understand and reasonable. It's very organized and easy to understand however the mud world is vast.

In my opinion, once you have reached level #5 you have a handle on the mudplay. I would like to encourage anyone the give the mud a try. Most of the players are friendly and helpful *cough* rogues even! See ya soon!

Elephant is simply one of the most imaginative muds around. All of the staff build lovely new areas for the players to enjoy, constantly expanding the realms. Only recently did they pull together and add on another 20,000 rooms for a new part, bring the dawning of a new era upon the realms. New or old, this mud isn't for the powermudders that want the uber-equipment right away, but it does suck you in and embraces you in the community of the people there. If asked, this is where i would recommend, this is where I would send someone looking to join mudders. Run around causing chaos to the player voted council or stand for election and become a protector of the people. You make your own history, and your own future. Don't let the levels fool you, there is more to Ele than a hack and slash through the bunnies.

Come for the curiosty, stay for the drama unfolding as players pit thier wits against each other. No mud is like this. No mud comes close to it.

11 years on, and still here.

After experiencing a wide range of interesting and sophisticated muds out there i have found elephant mud to be competing among the very best. As this can be viewed as just my opinion i will now proceed to list the reasons why elephant deserves this gratitude.

It is complete with user-friendly rooms, each room being detailed and every item that is described in the rooms overview can be 'looked at' and investigated more accurately if they player wishes, adding a sense of realism and complexity to the mud. This makes the rooms feel a lot more 'alive', secrets could be held in any room and unlocked with just a little more investigation.

The wide range of guilds and races allow for interesting and unique combinations, especially combined with the noble multi-classing option, you can truly create a unique player, which could just turn out to be the best combination yet. Obviously the races come with their own complex advantages and disadvantages.

Pking is allowed, so you won't feel restricted in that sense, but it is controlled by a complex council system which will investigate crimes. The council system is made up of elected players from each of the guilds, obviously no law is perfect so it is still possible to pull one over on council.

The statistics system offers some unique items, such as how much of the realms you have explored, a range of alignments, encumberment (how much your equip weighs you down), poisoning, severed limbs and a lot more.

Quests are an essential part of the game to progress, which adds more than just hack/slash exping, also available with deeds which can offer special items when completed.

Events/competitions are not non-existent on this mud, a player doesn't have to put up with the day-to-day grind. Noble competitions, unexpected town invasions are not uncommon.

The variety of commands available to the player allow for more freedom, including a whole array of emotes and feelings, the player can truly express their wishes without feeling restricted.

The family and house system adds another alternative to exping, blood lines involve an intricate and realistic taking, meaning that two elves obviously could not have a giant as a child. Houses are like unofficial guilds, they offer protection to any players that are permitted to join and can contain players from any guilds. Just like guilds, houses can wage wars, or aim to accomplish personal vendettas. Overall elephant mud isn't done credit by the amount of players usually online, usually around 40. It offers for very fun playing.
