The Burning Eye

The Burning Eye is back!

We feature: - 100 mortal levels - 12 Races - 14 Classes - 6 Clans - player run - Over 350 Skills and Spells - No Level Restrictions on Eq - your options are determined by Size, Race, Align & Class.

- Approximately intelligent mobs who will select spells to cast on you, improve their equipment with what they find, avoid heroes who hurt them and hunt heroes who did them insult. - An autoquest that doesn't offer rewards inversely and perversely proportional to the difficulty of the quest. Our mad questgiver tells you up front what he will offer for a quest, based on how hard he expects it will be for you to complete. - Limited Pkill and Limited corpse Looting is allowed. (Basically never happens, unlike in the halcyon days of our bygone youth) - Mounts, Languages, Background Skills, Autoquest, Traps, Mob and Object Programs, Truly Unique items, Room Affects and much more. - Sane, though occasionally mysteriously absent, immortals who aren't engaged in a powertrip.

While any previous experience is an asset, newbies are welcome. We have tried to cover everything with our more or less comprehensive (and sometimes incorrect or vague) help files so feel free to come enjoy a loose interpretation inspired by Tolkien's Middle Earth.

Our immortal staff is intermittently active but always interested in developing new features. We strive to be open to any and all player ideas.

We have released the first iteration of our landmarks system to help new players navigate the world. See HELP LANDMARKS in-game for details. The immortal staff has recently committed to an expansion of combat skills and the first patch has already rolled out, introducing a suite of 2-handed weapon focused combat skills for warrior, rangers, warmages and paladins. We have also abandoned tick-based hp/mana/move regen in favor of a more fluid system. Future plans include a review and rebuild of casting, in particular for lower level spell casters. Melee combat expansion in dual wield is on the upcoming list as is a revamping of item enchanting and hopefully some player crafting.

Come and try The Burning Eye! * Unlike our nefarious and dastardly competition, we don't force your character to eat and drink! *

** Formerly known as the Rebirth of Arda (from roughly 2000-2006) and before that, The Burning Eye, we have returned under our original name.
