Requiem for Kingsmouth is a new "Vampire: the Requiem" Mush
opening with the commencement of God Machine Chronicles and
Blood and Smoke. The City of Kingsmouth has grown from the
three settlements of Kingsport, Innsmouth, and Arkham, of HP
Lovecraft fame. In this world of darkness the writer was perhaps
writing fiction, but that fiction was colored by real-life
unexplainable events going on in and around Miskatonic University.
In the wake of a seven year bout of rotating princes, the Ruling
Council has formed, declaring an Absent Prince in the wake of Isiah
Cartwright, Ventrue of the First Estate, and declared that the city
will not accept a new prince until one rises from the ranks to gain
acceptance of seven of the ten councilors.

The Lancea et Sanctum is all but destroyed, their sole remaining
member, Mother Mathis, holding the enviable position of Council
Leader, and Seneschal. She reaches out to nearby settlements,
seeking the aid of her fellow sanctified, while the city grows
stronger in the newly enforced peace.

The Ordo Dracul has new tricks and traps of it's trade, and their
most prominent member wears the veil of the Invictus as well as
the dragon's coils. Lord Lucinde de Bethune of the Ventrue
insists on the title, despite her stunning figure, and weaves the
two covenants together like an iron mesh, though individual
members often find her cold practicality to be offputting, and
regard her with a wary eye.

The Circle of the Crone once fielded the ancient and dangerous crone Wisteria, but as she fell to Draugr with the burdens of rulership, birthing a small army of revenants (half-embraced monsters with endless hunger), she had to be put down, resulting in the final destruction of almost three quarters of the city's kindred, including virtually all the most martially inclined.

Widely believed to be the most personally powerful, Eric Driscoll holds down the Carthian Movement of Kingsmouth, encouraging an equality and level of human interaction that dizzies older Kindred. That terrifying Nosferatu once scourged the Necropolis of all dangers, and now turns his sights to the city above, eager to press the next experiment on the already weakened Ruling Council.

Why Isiah Cartwright, Invictus Prince and owner of Castle One, stepped down from his position of power and retreated into his ivory tower, none are able to say. Some rumors persist that in his eyes swims the dark, wriggling things that must exist in the bay, that inspired the tales of Lovecrafts Old Ones, and others that he has become consumed by his paranoia. Whatever the case, attempting to feed from his herd or encroach upon his territory is a death sentence, and even Sir James Aaron, of the Thorned Wreath, cannot protect the Invictus from their own mad primus.

Through all this, the Shadow walks unseen, whispering secrets to the mekhet.

Beneath all this the Necropolis is split between north and south, divided by philosophy and the Miskatonic River.

Above all this the Daeva gather as an ancient of their blood stirs from fifty years of torpor, his childer all dead in the Praxis Wars and his reaction unknowable in these modern nights.

Around all this the Gangrel draw a net, hemming in the city from its wooded outskirts and beginning to ply the dangers of their violent craft at swaying the Kindred to their will.

Despite all this the Ventrue prosper, rejuvenating the city one dollar at a time, as new technology under Ventrue control is put to use drawing gold from the Miskatonic Marsh.

This is Requiem for Kingsmouth, a player-rights focused MUSH in newly modified Pennmush code, that offers dozens of secret societies and factions for mortals and kindred alike, including psychics, sorcerers, ghouls, mediums, and of course the kindred themselves. Storytelling Staff is dedicated to the running of the MUSH, and plays no characters of their own, while forwarding plot with the innovative 'Availability System', which places you on watch for the Storyteller to invade your scene, whether alone or with others, to give you more to interact with. The city's political landscape is a breathing structure, with easy to grasp, but surprisingly deep rules for interaction and advancement, and a Minion/Mastermind play system that gives players the choice of whether to interact on the street level of plot and Kindred life, or the Supremacy level of cutthroat kindred politics, and elysium dealings.

Players are guaranteed transparent and coherent staff decisions, a game that clings to the canon material and sensible, balanced behavior of the NPCs, and conflict mediation in the OOC that promises to make the game more enjoyable for everyone. Plus, you might just meet Cthulu, Nyarlehthotep, or Nub Shuggorath, if you play your cards... wrong. Explore the sunken ruins of Miskatonic University, engage in secret warfare against the wierder denizens of the world of darkness, join cults of a hundred stripes and shades, and create rich and detailed characters with bonus starting XP by completing detailed 'Beat Sheets' which give the storyteller means by which to tie multiple players and plots together.

Requiem for Kingsmouth IS an adult-only Mush, and all players and characters must be at least 18 effective years of age, and interesting concepts and exceptions are being entertained by the storytelling staff. Sex, drugs, and/or rock-and-roll may play parts in any given scene.

We ARE hiring Storytellers, coders, builders, and player relation staff.
