I'm a semi current player at kd and after I read that latest review
I figured I'd too write something up. It sounds like Former Player
had something personal happen to them on the game and even so I hate
to say it but their review was right on the money. :(
I've played on this game for a few months now and have even though
nothing personal has been directed at me I know for fact two of the
staff members have problems if if they don't get to be the centre of
attention from the pb and especially the head wiz. I know for a fact
they have resorted to out of character rumour starting about other
players they don't like and know of at least a couple they have
pretty much driven off the game. I know this because I was a part of
it and encouraged to avoid and ignore these people that they weren't
liked. I feel bad about it now that I know what was going on
especially to one player that was driven off and made to feel like
dirt. They were one of the best role players I have had the fortune to
play with but because of malicious gossip I joined in the game to get
of them. I'm deeply sorry about that.
The game can be a lot of fun though despite the staff. The problem is
it's nearly impossible to avoid their characters because they have
multiples in each province. If you can or if you choose to cozy up to
them which is probably a better option since it is hard to avoid then
you can probably have a decent time of it. Beware though that if you
do have a problem with them and go to the head wiz to complain with or
without logs your side will not be taken and it will just make things
worse. :( I've seen this happen too and know that at least one of the
staff members has a habit of doctoring logs that make other people
look bad.
When Former Player said it was a sand box they were exactly right. It
is and it's extremely cliquey. The best advice I can give besides
avoiding the staff alts is to just form a little sand box of your own
with the people who you enjoy playing with. It's what I do. I don't
log on like I used to but I stay around because there are some
wonderful role players on there that I like to play with. That and I
love this theme and this is the only Kushiel game around anymore.
That brings me to last comment. Even though I love the theme I am
bitterly disappointed because there aren't much in the way of
politics as Former Player stated. Not like in the books. They say
there are but there isn't. This has degenerated into a sex mush for
women who want their love stories and men who want their ts. (Just
make a female character and see how long it takes for the resident
creepazoid to start paging you hounding you for ts. Oh yeah. He's
been their forever but has never been banned despite his continual
harassment of nearly all the females on the game. It turns out he's a
personal friend of the head wiz and his wife. Go figure.) Any politics
to be had which is extremely little if at all is in the form of
seduction and sex. It's really sad that it comes down to that because
the books had so much more than that. There was actual intellect in
them where here it's pretty much mindless with only again the staff
alts getting the most from everything without having to take any
consequences.
I've heard didn't used to be like this I do want to stress. It was
a rather fun game until the switch. There were fewer players but a
whole lot less drama and unfairness. Then again most of the newer
players are friends of the staff members recruited to come over like
me.
To conclude this review I just want to say again that I completely
agree with Former Player and even though I do want more new players to
come in and experience fun role play again I don't want these
potential people to come in blind. There are are awesome role players
here I do promise and nice people too.
