Hello,
If you're like me, you probably wander from game to game looking for
something to hook your attention. A few have managed to do that over
the many, many years I've sunk into the mindless and physically
unrewarding, yet oh so addictive, past time known as mudding. I'd
list them, but they are pretty well known and established for the most
part, and this post is not about them. This post is about a fairly new
up-and-comer named Maiden Desmodus. I'm going to break this down
shotgun style a little, but it'll be brief. I'll rate the game, by
my opinion solely and, of course, with no sponsoring of the staff or
other players, by code, roleplay, and newbie friendliness.
Alright, first off, the coding is very well done. The depth and
smoothness of the gameplay is amazing, especially considering the
short life that the mud has enjoyed so far.
The skills, crafting, combat, all well done as far as I've
encountered. I have not played all classes, though, and obviously not
tested all skillsets.
Second, roleplay. It's not enforced, but encouraged. Right now it's
difficult, as the normal playerload at any given time is fairly light
as yet, but there is a dedicated Imm to stirring up events and random
RP situations, and an Imm that ensures the coded quests and newly
added game content reflects the roleplay situation at hand, even so
far as adjusting content to what the players have caused to happen.
And lastly, for the poor newb, as I still classify myself, things can
be tough when there is no one around to help figure things out, but
all the imms are active, quite willing to assist, and most players I
encounter are highly altruistic.
If unsure, please seek me, Erad, out if your character is either from
the City of Johannesburg, or a noncombatant. There are plenty of
helpful people on both sides of the fence.
