The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Valeris]

Dragon's Exodus is currently one of the only two EOS codebase MUDs
out there. I'm not nearly as 'old' as a lot of the higher level
characters but by no means am I considered a newb anymore. At times
the older players can be crass and maybe even a little rude to some
of the little guys, but then there are always a few shining examples
of players that are the opposite and go to help those said little
guys without them having to ask more than once.
Some pros: 'DE' is undergoing some intense changes to make it more
player friendly, especially for its higher level characters. For a
long time the slists, or skill lists, were unbalanced, with the
majority of the skills and spells near the bottom, leaving very
little to look forward to. For a short spell when astral walk and
portal were moved to be more selective spells and not accessible by
-all- players things became a little rough for the guys who didn't
know how to walk, but honestly, for me, it only forced -me- to learn
the game maps a little better... even though the maps needed
updating (and have since mostly been done).
Roleplay is encouraged, though a good portion of the playerbase
appears to be more hack n' slash orientated. Personally, I -love-
roleplay and will sacrifice time away from leveling up to 200 (my
current goal) to write or participate in live-action, which the MUD
supports both. If one wants to write out in prose form, rather than
do live stuff, they have a board specifically set aside for those
who wish to post. However, if that same person wants to do live-
action, the MUD has a command for that, as well.
A couple cons: Though RP is encouraged, it has a habit of dying out
every now and then and has slow, dry periods. Some seem to think that
RP wars are the only thing that gets RP going when that is not the
case. There is, however, an RP guild that attempts to help spur on
IC interaction.
The playerbase is small. ...But that is why we have coders and
builders working tirelessly to improve the game to bring new people
in.
You should check it out.
