The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Zenith]

The great thing that I love about this game is the amount of roleplay
involved. And true roleplay, not the kind where you use socials and
one word commands to make your character act things out for you. True,
beautifully crafted and well written emotes that range from all
aspects of vocabulary, style, and size.
The playerbase is growing, which just makes things even more
interesting. Easily eight people online at once, and the players are
devoted, so you know they're going to stick around for a while. There
are many different roleplay plots taking place, as well, and the staff
are continuously playing along and making sure that there's always
something happening. If there isn't? Stick around. They're cooking
something up.
I know sometimes the staff and I bump heads, but in the end
everything gets worked out and it causes no real issues OOCly, and
especially not ICly. Everything is left on a professional level.
Granted every once in a while people lose their cool and words are
exchanged that, honestly, shouldn't be. But again, it all works out
in the end.
I highly recommend playing Dark Isles if, and only if, you enjoy
reading and waiting for others to post. If you are fast, put down no
more than ten words per emote, and jump the gun before others have a
chance to reply then you have a few things coming for you. Either
blend in and adapt, or find a game more suitable for your style.
Unfortunately that's what it boils down to. I, personally, hate it
when I can't keep up with someone OOCly and their character starts
assuming that mine isn't responding when I just haven't had a chance
to pose. Real life happens, things take time. And if you are highly
descriptive, like many of us are, then you'll understand this. If
this doesn't float your boat, then I'm sorry to say that you won't
enjoy yourself here. Not unless you are willing to see how much better
this way of roleplay really is.

Regarding the number of players online:
Over the last couple of months, our numbers have grown
considerably and we usually see about 20-30 on at peak times
now.
I would also like to note that the above comments regarding style of
roleplay are only those of the player, not of the staff, the mud in
general, or the rest of the player base.
My personal view is that every roleplayer has their own style and I
believe the main requirements in roleplay are a love of writing, an
enjoyment of telling the story with others, and to have tolerance and
patience when it comes to other people's styles and their ability to
learn to write rather than a certain amount of lines or speed, or
nit-picking over someone's use of grammar or spelling.
