The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Montahg] and in no way represents the opinions of this website or its staff.

Aabahran the Forsaken Lands is a higly intense MUD, both in aspects
of player-killing and roleplay. The game is run by a highly competent
immortal staff and played by a highly enthusiastic playerbase.

Whether you are very pk-intensive, very rp-intensive, or a mix of the
two, you cannot go wrong with Forsaken Lands. Every class and race is
balanced, none better than the other. Roleplay is enforced, absolutely
no out-of-character comments are allowed, and at the same time, PK is
allowed in every imaginable circumstance, as long as it fits your RP.
Want to be a follower of a higher power and go slay anyone who opposes
your preachings? Go for it, FL will applaud you for it. Want to be a
self-righteous gnome that is delusional and thinks he is stronger than
any giant in the lands? Go for it, FL will again applaud you. Your
imagination literally can run wild here. Anything you can dream of,
you can play it.

The immstaff is beyond superb. They are constantly involved in
roleplay plots. Major, major roleplay plots. They will interact
through roleplay with any character you ever make. You can darn well
bet the immortals will take their time to individually roleplay with
your character. But not only the immortals, as the playerbase itself
is very much involved in the mud's roleplay.

The immortal staff and playerbase surrounding the mud will definitely
make you feel as though the time you invest on your character is well
worth it. This isn't other muds, where you are just a number. You are
not a number at Forsaken Lands, you are a character who has a unique
rp background, and allowed to pk as much as you want within that rp
background. At FL, you are an influence on anyone and everyone who
plays here, because we all want to learn who your character his,
what's his schtick, what he believes in.

The mud is entirely in-character. There are no 'ty!', there are no
'brb!'. Rest assured, however, that people will help you along your
journey. Even the most evil of villains will help a new person to the
mud - FL has a 'newbie' channel dedicated just to that purpose.
Can't find your way from one city to another? The newbie channel will
help.

The extensive coding and building updates are wonderful. By the time
you figure out one cool little thing, you realize there are five more
things just waiting for you to come explore them.

This mud is by far superior than any other mud you will encounter.
You can trust me, as I've played MUDs for over 12 years, and I've
tried them all. I came to FL on a friend's urging. I saw it was
complicated and unique, but what was most important to me was that I
saw that this mud was truly balanced. There were no 'rigged'
characters. I was fed up with muds like that. Nobody at FL is a cheat,
and if you try to cheat, you should know that you will be caught. I
was tired of playing muds with those type of players and immortals.
Rest assured, you will never encounter a better immortal staff. You
will never encounter such rp-driven plots as FL, both player and
immortal-driven. It is hard, if not impossible, to think of anything
that is truly wrong with this mud.

In short, if you like roleplay, if you like player killing, and if
you definitely like the balance of the two, then FL is the place for
you. The immortal staff is superb, the playerbase is grateful and
accepting. The game will take you to depths you never thought
imaginable.
