This mud is, as it says, a DBS clone, however it has had a fair amount
of work put into it. There are several new areas, quests, and items
added into the game. It is entertaining and does not take a whole lot
of brain power to grind PL and is something to do while multitasking.
There are 3 issues I had with the mud when I played.
1) If you dont RP don't bother playing, if you do have at it. The
RPrewards give you any of the best items in the game, including custom
items.
2) Because of the heavy RP focus, the actual gameplay and PK aspects
of the MUD are severely imbalanced but the immortals do not care.
Since their mortal alts are the strongest in the mud the balance
issues dont affect them (And when I managed to kill one of their alts,
a 'nerf' followed on whatever move I used, oh look it affects them
now).
3) Lack of effort on most of the immortals. At any given time there
are as many immortals online as players, 5-10 online at a time. One (I
believe 1) of the immortals has been working a fair amount on skills
and other coding issues, but none of the muds helpfiles are ever
kept even remotely up to date. Files still exist documenting moves
from the original DBS when the moves may have been drastically changed
or removed entirely. Basically, they are overstaffed and dont DO
anything other than abuse immortal privileges.
I decided to stop playing since I've gotten back into another game and
got myself banned today for telling the immortals what I thought (on
the 'freedom of speech channel, which is no different than any other
channel since they moderate it and still silence/hell/ban you
whenever they feel like it). Granted I knew I was going to get myself
banned long before I spoke, but I figure it's just not worth spending
that much time on a mud run by 12 year olds.

The note regarding your punishment explains it clearly. I understand
you're frustrated because you were banned, but the ONLY reason
you've posted your review is because you were banned.
Now, let's explain a few things here. You do not need to RP to get
the best items in the game. You can get BETTER RP items as a reward,
but the best items in the game are quest items and super mob items
still.
The admins DO care about balancing issues. Your point about you
killing an Admin's mort, then the skill being nerfed? Think about it
for a minute. Why would an everyday player REPORT an attack that is
overpowered and causes game inbalances? Make up your mind about us not
caring about game balance.
Lastly, we all do work. You just don't get to see what kind of work
is done day in and day out. There's a big project in the works and
everyone's cracked down to get it finished ASAP. But of course, you
wouldn't know that since we obviously were out to get you and we had
to ban you because you were too balancing in the game. *rolls eyes*
For those reading this, he is just a disgruntled player. I implore
you come see for yourselves that we are NOTHING like claims we are and
we all have the best intentions in bettering the MUD.

First, Rendo and I are 21, not 12.
I apologize that you don't like DBI. We try to do what we can to
make it as appealing as possible to everyone, but at the same time we
follow our own goals, and as such, if something you disagree with
doesn't go along with the overall plans we have for the MUD, that's
just something that can't be helped.
You seem to have a personal vendetta against RPing. If you don't
like to RP, then don't. There are plenty of things to do other than
RP. There are tons of quest, covering all ranges of difficulties. The
Arlia quest is among the most difficult and time consuming, with the
average player taking at least a week to complete it. The Capsule Corp
hologram area, designed for fairly strong characters, doesn't take
nearly as long, but the rewards at the end are nice regardless.
There are plenty of ways to obtain the best items, not just through
RP. Admin-held quests, such as SpaceWars, Saiyan Invasion, or even
simple trivia are also great ways to get your hands on some great
equipment.
The staff follows the rules to the letter, or they get either demoted
or fired. We do things the way we see fit, for the good of the MUD,
whether everyone likes it or not. And honestly, just because you hold
a grudge against us because you messed up and got banned really
doesn't give you a right to insult us. Maybe you should rethink who
the 12 year old is.

Rendo-
Nothing I said in my orininal post was a lie, save the age of the
average immortal. The immortals really dont DO anything, and as much s
you'd like to justify it by trying to be mysterious 'Oh yeah we're
working on stuff that nobody knows about but us, and in the meantime
we ignore the most basic work that needs to be done', paraphrased to
be sure, but dead on.
The helpfiles are horribly out of date or nonexistent, and quite
frankly the immortals/players aren't helpful at all to new players
unless they constantly spam a channel until someone answers them out
of irritation. You'd think the 'newbie council' would be more
'newbie friendly'. I bring this up because it's extremely taxing as
a new player to try and figure out exactly what a move does or how the
game works.
Ok, maybe the immortals do care about balancing, as you claim,
however regardless of how much they care, they don't care enough to
actually DO anything about it. I did not exaggerate when I said there
are often as many immortals as players on, you'd think SOMEONE would
get around to fixing SOMETHING.
Final note to Rendo: I am not frustrated because I was banned, I
became too frustrated BEFORE I was banned, (Namely the Adrian/Talling
incident) and it was at that point I decided to write a review. Had I
not been banned after that incident I would still have written this
review and not returned. Your understanding and acceptance of this
fact is unnecessary, I'm simply correcting your statement.
Kilan-
On the contrary. The crap about immortals 'following rules to the
letter' is a blatant lie. I was challenged to a PK fight on the wrong
channel (ooc, when you get through the newbie area you must answer a
question telling you challenges are to be made on wartalk) and was
under NO obligation to meet Adrian (immortal alt) for a duel as long
as I was out of safe gaining PL, which I was. Talling then transfered
me out of the Gete Star to Adrian for him to kill me. It was at that
point the line was crossed and I made a conscious decision to get
banned, or failing that to just leave. If you review the logs you'll
notice.
The real problem is that...lets say 'some'...of the immortals are
obsessed with what little virtual 'power' they have. They try to act
all tough and it comes off as pathetic. Constantly when 2 people are
arguing instead of saying 'take it to FOS', or 'take it to tells'
you get 'drop the subject. now.' and further attempts at macho crap
when all the immortals really care about is trying to make themselves
feel like they have control of people.
'Vendetta' against RPing isn't exactly correct, though I'll admit
I'm not a fan. The only real reason I brought up RP was because it
seemed to get plenty of attention when basic gameplay aspects of PK
and of the mud itself desperately needed work.
Final note to Kilan: While I'm not exactly sure who you are,
understand that the underlying problem here is that my original post
(once again save the age range) was accurate. While you may not like
me saying any of these things you attack me because I got myself
banned, yet I didn't lie. The best items ARE obtained primarily
through RP, and on the off chance an imm runs a quest, and the smaller
chance that it has the potential reward you want, and the even smaller
yet chance you win the quest to obtain the item you want, someone else
who RPs gets to pick and choose what they'd like, or design items
themselves.
(Also, the few quests there are that are worth doing can be
interesting but are poorly designed)
Readers-
Rendo encouranges you to still try the mud and I am not saying don't
try it. Simply be warned it isn't newbie friendly, the helpfiles wont
tell you anything, and it can be frustrating to get answers from
players. The immortals word is 'law', and even if you use the
Freedom of Speech channel they'll still silence/hell/ban you as they
see fit. None of this is untrue to the slightest degree. If you're
used to that kind of setting and need a place to kill time then its
really not that bad.

Firstly, didn't Crymsin get banned mainly for making a racial
comment? And secondly, how can you say that the admins do no work when
Talling just recently built an all new Satan City? Third, every admin
on the MUD is 18 or over, and I can prove it. Just because you got
banned, you're bashing the MUD. I got banned a while ago, and I was
kind of angry at first, but I just wrote a pretty decent review, and I
still occasionally vote for DBI. And yes, the game isn't much fun
without RP, but what MUD is? And the whole helpfile thing is taken
care of, thanks to Rendo's girl.
Lastly, the statement about the admins characters being the most 1337
is pretty true, but did you ever think that maybe it's because they
work hard to earn that PL? Suck it up and quit acting like a 12 year
old girl.
