The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Yraec] and in no way represents the opinions of this website or its staff.

After playing Phoenixmud for five years, I can say it truly is a
place where one can return, or begin, and feel welcomed with open arms
from the start. The playerbase is growing, but still remains as
tight-knit as ever. Several players know each other, and have known
each other for years on end.

It's a good place to invest all your spare time, or hardly any at
all. Whether you use it to chat and hang out, or to hack and slash, or
even to roleplay, you will find a welcoming smile and presence there.

Their improved combat and spell system is unique to them, and offers
a level of skill progression which feels both real and requires work
and dedication to advance. Three hundred and three playable levels
offers even the most hardcore players room to advance, and their
remort system allows casual players to complete content on the level
of their remort'ed counterparts, with less of a time investment
required.

Phoenixmud is also very newbie friendly. The players there are
interested in seeing it attract new players and keep them. We are
interested in sharing a good thing in Phoenixmud, and believe that
only through catching new player's attention and keeping it, we can
maintain a strong MUD and a strong interest.

An automated quest system is on the way, which excites me, especially
as a veteran player. The MUD is also under new management, which makes
me especially happy, as some of the old immortals were happy with a
stale, stagnant mud. =(

With a unique equipment and character management system, a great
combat and spell system, a great remort system, and one of the best
immortal staffs around, I would recommend PhoenixMUD to all my
friends. I have played over 10 different MMORPG's and have character
in the endgame on two of those, and I still return to PhoenixMUD.

I wholeheartedly recommend this great mud to anyone looking for a
family-style mix of hack-n-slash and RP. =)
