Jumped on mozart about 2 years ago while looking for a good mud. It
had been ages since last mudding, so was just looking for something
noob friendly. Some of the reviews and opinions led me to Mozart.
After numerous frustrations however, I wish that I hadn't gone there.
The higher level people (especially the immortals) are entirely too
arrogant. Beyond the point of roleplaying, they are simply too
condescending. Simple questions asked, return bitter results. Probably
the laggiest server I have played on to date. Those problems are
around the clock. And when you ask 'am I the only one receiving
lag', immortal responds with 'for the n'th time, we are doing
something and causing the lag'. Did it occur to the immortal that
perhaps by me asking, I didn't see any messages? Pretty much the
response I have grown to expect from Mozart.
Fast forward to today. I thought, perhaps Mozart matured, and hence
returned or another look. I was completely wrong. Same lag, same
arrogant higher-levels, and it shows in their lack of growth.
The balance of the mud is completely off. Today, as was two years
ago, you either had high level people, or low. Not many mids.
So my review is; if Mozart had a new set of staff, and fixed their
server, they probably would be on to something. It is easy for a noob,
and challenging for a higher up. However, lag and unfriendly people
appear to have restricted the growth of what could be a very popular
mud.

I was very disheartened to see this review as it obviously comes from
someone who doesn't play often enough to see the great things that
Mozart has to offer.
First off, the lag issue. The lag here is very rare, and when it does
happen it means the Immortals are making improvements to the mud:
Adding new flaws (which rule btw), folding in new zones and ensuring
the ballance in the game is adequate, are just a few of the functions
that the Immortals of mozart are constantly working on.
In regards to the Immortals response to your question regarding the
lag.....I was online that day and when that immort responded, he had
already mentioned more than once that there was some lag due to
improvements to the mud that were being folded in.
Not only the Immortals had mentioned this as well. I had gossiped
several times prior to this what the cause was. So imagine if you will
being asked the same question 10 times when you are improving the
mud....it gets annoying.
This post was posted from someone who didn't like the response he
got and took it personally. When people constantly slam the immortals
for doing their jobs, it becomes very insulting for them and I do not
at all blame them for getting occasionally irritated.
Mozart has always been the best mud out there. If it were not, I
wouldn't have been playing for over 10 years. But hey, don't listen
to me. Log on and try it out for yourself.

Well, at the very least I can say that we were NOT involved in the
assassination of JFK, though apparently we've done everything else
wrong in poor Sandel's eyes...
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to Moz.
The funniest complaint you made concerns the lag you apparently
encountered. Two years ago we were on a completely different
connection (in another part of the city). We moved for convenience
sake, but at neither site have we received complaints about the
connection speed and reaction time of the game. As far as the server
and its responsiveness to individual players, the ONLY time that it
slows is when either Korath or I do something significant offline,
which is usually limited to 5-10 minutes per day. Other than that it
responds more than efficiently for *everyone*.
As for balance, hard to really answer you without something concerete
in your complaint (well, more concrete than 'they blow'). We're
pretty pleased with the way our game balances challenges for its
players, from the lowest level to the highest. I don't get many
complaints, so I have say that from my experience and from the
feedback I receive, your perceptions of the game are in the minority.
As for your comments that our immorts being hostile, that is
something that I take exception to. The Imms of Mozart pride
themselves on being just the opposite, open and available.
In any event, good luck with wherever you mud. -Mallery of Mozart

This review seems bizarrely inaccurate to me. The immortals have
always been pretty friendly, lag so infrequent that the accusation
seems laughable, and mid level folk abound. Although I think perhaps
our friend here may have come on when there were new additions to
the mud and many people were making new characters to try out new
things. Mozart recently added a Flaw system to further challenge
players, it's not required to take a Flaw but many have just to push
their gaming experience a little further.

I'm afraid the reviewer is 100% correct about both the hostile and
rude immortals and the lag. There is at least 1 or perhaps 2 (can't
tell as they're always hidden) immortals who have either responded
rudely to my polite request and/or rudely ordered me to stop
submitting typo reports. First time I politely (even with a please in
it) asked to turn in a quest reward and was answered with a 'What do
you need.' I asked for a reward and it (hidden of course) asked if it
should just pick one for me. I quickly had to specify the reward and
it was given without any further comment leaving me hanging until I
checked my inventory. Not quite rude but certainly brusque.
Second
time was worse. I found an area with multiple misspellings including
one that had been copied to several rooms. I submitted typos for all
of them including one for each of the copied rooms. Some minutes later
I was accosted by a hidden immortal like this: 'Hewed is correct.
Stop' I had already moved on at this point. Hewed was the typo
incidentally. I thought it was stylistically inferior to Hewn and thus
submitted the typos. After I politely admitted that both forms are
correct I was told to 'Check first next time' When I tried to reply
that I felt sorry for the inconvenience I'd caused they had gone
already. I'm a nice guy. I was raised to be a Gentleman. Perhaps this
sort of thing doesn't strike some of you as rude but to people like
me it is very offensive. Furthermore, some readers will think I'm
over sensitive. To that I can respond by suggesting you go to some
other muds with nice immortals. The difference will surprise you.
