The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Acaykath] and in no way represents the opinions of this website or its staff.

I have played Redemption for as long as I can remember. I have
tried other muds, but I have never found any that appeal to me
as much as Redemption does. I enjoy playing the game, whether
I am actively playing or just leaving the window open in the
background while I do homework.

My enjoyment probably comes from the variety on redemption.
There are many races, classes, spells and areas on the mud, and
a lot of them are unique to redemption. This also however poses
a problem to a very casual player, due to the complexity this
generates. This gives a definite advantage to players who have
played longer. Luckily, a few dedicated players have made
information sited that include everything from eqlists to pkilling
guides which can help to speed up the process of learning the game.

The biggest problem with Redemption is the players. The most
visible players are the complainers. They are in fact a minority,
but they will make themselves known with complaining about how they
are punished harsher because they cheat more often. There are
however, many helpful players (most of which amoung the
non-pkilling non-clanners who are a regular target of complaints)
who are extremely helpful and considerate of everyone.

Roleplaying is virtually nonexistent on the mud, though there
have been many efforts to revive it. There are some players
dedicated to roleplaying, and most of them get ridiculed. There
is now an imm dedicated solely to roleplaying and is making
slow progress, so hopefully the roleplaying environment will
soon improve.

Despite the actions of those players mentioned in the previous
2 paragraphs, I have found this game to be fun, enticing, time
consuming and addictive. I would recommend it to anyone who wants
to play a MUD because in my opinion, it is the best one there is.
