Ancient Mists grew on me since I accidentally (long story...) first
logged in. The community, although small compared to the mass muds out
there, is very friendly and helpful. The strong RP component of the
game is to be taken seriously, unless one wants to not gain (or lose)
the RP flag on his character. This will not allow him to join clans or
engage in Pkill. And yet all players seem to know to draw the line
between OOC and IC behaviours, keeping their character enmities for
the IC channels and showing their respect, humour, and even
friendship, on the OOC channels.
The immortals are a good bunch of serious and dedicated individuals.
The interaction with the players can be seen on a constant basis
through the OOC channels, the Pray channel and through the game Deity
system. These are not absent immortals. They are people you may not
see all the time, but can 'feel' and 'hear', making the game much
more enjoyable and rich.
There are absolutely no kind of favoritism like I've witnessed on so
many other games. Each player is treated equally no matter their
experience, history in the mud or OOC preferences.
The levelling system is very complete. 8 classes to choose from at
the beginning coupled with 4 tiers, each with their own classes, makes
of Ancient Mists an ongoing adventure that will keep you enthralled
for many years.
The areas are for the most part well built and the game world is big.
There are some stock areas, but most of the ones I've seen so far
have been modified and on some cases heavily modified. The game is
still lacking on some code areas. The most noticeable the lack of mob
assist, which is being dealt with at the time I'm writing this.
Ancient Mists has become my home. I've been suckered into it's
simplicity, beauty, great community and the promise of long last fun.
