After searching fruitlessly for several months for a cyberpunk mu*, I
finally came across Iconoclast. I've been playing off and on for
about three years now, and it has been a truly rewarding experience. A
player can come, with any level of roleplaying experience, and learn a
ton, walking away feeling very rewarded.
With a 100% completely original story and race system, it feels like
a lot of love was put into it. Iconoclast is also a very player-driven
environment. If admin notices enough people having difficulty with an
area, it's changed. If someone suggests a useable idea, it's often
implemented. Players have even been known to own bars, shops and
homes.
While the combat system leaves a lot to be desired, it is usuable.
But the main reason people come to Iconoclast is for the roleplaying.
Great examples of what can be done in this game can be found on the
game's wiki (foofus.com/cgi-bin/wiki). It's a player-maintained
database filled with player profiles, rp logs and helpful ideas for
the whole game.
I recommend this mud to anyone who has any sort of passion for
originality and great RP.
