The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Alchymi] and in no way represents the opinions of this website or its staff.

Redemption is a 2 continent world based on ROM 2.4, so you might
assume that it's heavily modified. The game is challenging, but a
few of the clanless players are 'always' on (they make up a good
50% of the playerbase!) to help you out with your troubles.

There is a unique crafting system, an awesome remort system that
gives you remorts and reclasses actually based on your race and
class!

In terms of overall balance there are constant changes to even out
some issues so you can really never pick a poor 'build'. There are
some very unique ideas that are very well coded into this mud. I
believe the coder here really knows what he's doing and makes sure
he tests everything to the extreme before he unleashes it out on
the playerbase.

Gripes: When I started playing there was still the essence of
roleplay involved especially in the clan system. There were five
clans at the time and they abided their rules very well. They all
had their purpose and were right to keep it. Yet, over time the
roleplay essence from this mud has kind of degraded and newer
players will find that this mud is overrun by channel/note spam,
cheaters and multiplayers, and whiners. There is very poor rule
enforcement on this mud, I feel that the imms sometimes just pick
when they are going enforce their own rules. As a newbie I didn't
have a very good time talking to the Imms either. Most of them
ignored me or brushed me aside. Of course they can be a 'busy'
bunch so you're better off just asking a nonclanner. Of course
I say nonclanner because the clanner fragment of this base is
mainly composed of cut-throat, begging strategists who care nothing
for anything outside of their build making, godly equipment and
player killing tactics. The interaction between nonclanners and
clanners is mostly comprised of begging and bribing, which in 90%
of all other muds would be shunned upon. If this was a pure
playerkilling mud (which it has gradually become) then I would
have nothing to rant about, but the Imms keep making poor attempts
to revive the long forgotten roleplay essence and those players
who follow along are ridiculed and mocked out of the game.

In summation, this is a 'struggling' mud. Despite impeccable
coding and idea formation, and the fact that no one can truly be
godly (you will be balanced out the moment you say something),
the poor enforcement and immortal involvement (which is a key
element to keeping a stable mud/playerbase) has degraded this
game to a very low level and I would be less than surprised if
the playerbase halved itself every year that this lax action
continues.
