With the conclusion of the Khitomer Accords, peace between the
Klingon Empire and the United Federation of Planets is finally a
reality. Citizens of both factions can finally look forward to an
era in which they need no longer view their neighbours with
suspicion and fear and the Klingon Neutral Zone is a historical
relic. Only the militaristic elements in Starfleet are displeased,
for they face dismantling the old Neutral Zone defenses and
disposing of a sudden, vast amount of extra hardware and officers
that have come into their hands.

Luckily, the eye of Starfleet Command is always wandering, and with
the Klingons friendly, they begin to look with concern at the
Romulans. The space around the Romulan Neutral Zone is largely
uncharted, and more than one science vessel sent in has not
returned. At last, Starfleet can afford to explore in force, and
an old dreadnought, the USS Federation, is rapidly recommissioned,
crudely refit, and sent into the breach.

But the operation is better optically than strategically. The
Federation is forty years old, a ragged old ship that was never
properly refit or upgraded and is held together with string,
glue, and willpower. The officers and crew are largely a gang of
youngsters, misfits, and hasbeens, sent off because they're the
ones Starfleet can afford to lose. And the obstacles they will
face will be as great as any that a starship has met before.

Star Trek: Faded Glory is a Star Trek MUSH set two years after the
events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, on what was
once the pride of Starfleet before most of the ship's crew were
even born. Run as a project of the god of Corporate Expanse: From
the Cradle, Faded Glory is meant to capture the atmosphere of an
overstressed ship and an overstressed crew plunged in way over
their heads.
