The East was the birthplace of IntrepidMUD, started in early 1996 and is a fairly traditional world with a variety different influences. It is primarily combat and level oriented. The majority of the player base is here, and the majority of the active immortal staff spends their time building, programming for, and maintaining the East. At more than 22,000 rooms, and with around 30 hometowns, the lands of the East lack nothing. The East is nothing short of enormous, and the world is rich and detailed. Nearly every god, from the highest implementor down to the lowliest immortal, has spent a great deal of time building the East. You can still bump into an occasional stock CircleMUD zone from time to time (though Lupus is actively trying to change that!), but the East is over 95% unique! The West was opened for players on January 1, 2003 as an alternative to the more combat oriented East. The West has an integrated system of trade skills, and players often spend as much time mining, farming, trading, and using these trade skills as they do fighting or exploring. Without a doubt, the West is a challenge to play. For all practical purposes, the West is an entirely different MUD than the East, with a seperate player base and a self-sustaining and completely original world. When starting out, players are given the option to start in the East or the West. Although still relatively young, the West has already grown to more than 10,000 rooms, and has more than a dozen hometowns. Try it out and happy hunting!report listing problems | ||
