Imagine a world with costumed heroes, where they have been before and
have now come again. The world had its Captain Americas, its Union
Jacks, and it came to trust them -- then it cast them aside when they
became politically inconvenient. Decades later, mutants and other
metahumans began to appear, many taking up where the costumed crime
fighters of the generations before had left off. Some have registered
with the government, giving up their identities in order to have
official sanction to do good in the world. Others refuse, operating
outside the law but winning some public support simply by helping
those who need it most.

Heroes Awakening MUX is a world that melds Marvel and DC, a place
where comic realities collide. Taking inspiration from classic
stories like Alan Moore's Watchmen, we seek to strike a balance
between high heroics and introspective realism -- ours is a world
where heroes are equal measures feared and needed. The MUX opens in
fall of 2010 with a Year One theme: the first costumed, powered heroes
have only just begun to appear in the world. There's plenty of room to
take characters and stories in new directions, to leave a lasting mark
on our world as its story begins to unfold.
