The following review is the opinion of the review's author [Warlord]
and in no way represents the opinions of this website or its staff.
Lothlorien is a very unique mud. When I say that, I don't
necessarily mean that Lothlorien has commands, skills, or classes you
haven't seen before. When I say Lothlorien is unique, I am speaking
of the atmosphere and the overall gameplay. This mud is difficult,
interesting, engaging, addictive, and requires a high level of
intelligence to be competitive. I have been playing this game for
nearly a decade, and while many of the players *CAN BE* jerks,
ultimately they want other players to rise through adversity and fight
for their right to play on this incredible mud.
There are a large number of well-crafted and difficult areas. Many of
the mobiles are as difficult (or more so) than fighting players. And
aside from well built areas, there is beautifully strung eq, and a
direct equipment hierarchy that allows dedicated players enhanced
ability in combat. This can make it difficult on newer players, but
again, the players of Lothlorien simply want newbies to be fighters,
and have the drive to compete.
Finally, the coder and owner of Lothlorien (Kalkin) does his level
best to be fair, balancing, and efficient in his administrating of the
mud. All of which reflects itself with the speed at which he fixes
'bugs' (which is to say, tweak balancing of classes), and adds new
abilities for the players.
At the end of the day, Lothlorien is a wonderful mud. I truly love
this mud, all the players here truly love this mud. Log on, ask a
'Hero', ask if they can even play other muds, ask why they play on
Lothlorien. They will tell you they no longer know why they play, they
just love it.
