This is the homepage of Andrew Cowan, known to many as Icculus, known to some as K2mia, known to two as daddy. Note to those who found their way here from Google: I am not the same Andrew Cowan that originated from Scottland and has numerous webpages and stories about his Rally car driving expertise, though I do envy that Andrew Cowan's search engine positioning.

This particular Andrew Cowan was born in Smithtown, NY, spent his high school years in Ridgefield, CT, then moved to Greensboro, NC for college.

I met my wife, Suzanne, during my first year of college and it was she who influenced my decision to take up permanent residence in NC (it was that or find a new wife). We live in northern NC with our wonderful two children Abby and Zach and a whole mess of cats ( Suzanne doesn't believe in turning strays away and she has a magnetic affect on them it seems).

In 1994 I joined Brian Clark and Tammy Kearns in a new business venture which became Global Media Design, Inc.. I am a partner and CTO of GMD, which has provided me with a very enjoyable career (how many people can really say they love their job, I think that puts me in the minority).

In addition to the many sites and experiences GMD has created, there are a number of projects I have designed and built for hobby-sake that have taken off and become popular.

• The Mud Connector - I created this website in 1994 and it has become one of the leading portals for online multi-user gaming
• UWC3 (Utimate Warcraft 3) - This is a very popular mod I built for Counter-Strike 1.6 which incorporates RPG gameplay into the FPS Counter-Strike experience.
• WowMOD - This is the sequal to UWC3 which incorporates World of Warcraft style gameplay into CS 1.6, the mod is released as beta now and development continues.

I have enjoyed tinkering with playing the guitar since I was about 13 or 14 and I recently started re-learning and composing/recording instrumental rock pieces. You can find all of my music on the Guitar page of this webpage (see the left-side menu) and some that have risen to the top of the instrumental rock/rock charts over at soundclick.com. Suzanne gave me a Dean Edge 5-string bass guitar for this past Christmas and I have been playing around with it since and composing some new stuff which will be strongly bass-guitar oriented.

I hope life has been good to all of you that have tracked me down.

On December 14, 2004 Suzanne gave birth to our son Zachary. The pregnancy was troubled with complications from early on and Zachy tried his best to be born early, but Sue did great and kept a hold of him until just a few weeks before her due date. I could not ask for a more wonderful son to complement/complete our family.

On December 6th, 2003 at 4:49pm my wonderful (amazing) wife Suzanne and I were blessed with the birth of our little angel, Abby. The 6th was already planned for, it was to be my wife's baby shower and she was excited to spend time with her friends and discuss the awaited special day, but at 5:30 am little Abby decided enough was enough, it was time to meet the two voices she had been hearing for so long (and one of which had been singing evening lullabies very badly to her). So it was that Abby was born, 3 weeks premature and weighing in at a whopping 4lbs 15oz at birth - but dont let her little size fool you, she is a mighty might and in one short week has learned to master control of her mommy and daddy.
