Any suggestions on where I could get someone to create custom sci-fi/fantasy artwork for my mud's website? I'm thinking sci-fi book cover quality and I'm willing to pay. I did a quick look on the net and found some refs but mostly to well known artists who charge an arm and a leg. Which is fine if you're running a for-profit website ;) But I'm not.

Ask your players. If you've got a decent
player base, chances are you've got an
aspiring artist in your midst. We did the
same on Dartmud and found we have a good
artist who is willing to contribute some pics
every so often (when we can get him to stop
playing long enough).
