Hi all,

We are d20MUD: Forgotten Realms, a true D&D 3.5e rules mud set in the world of Faerun.

We are seeking players to help with the testing process of our mud-in-development. We're no normal mud in development though, as we've been working on this for three years. However the D&D 3.5 system encompasses over two dozens rule books full of rules and needless to say it's a going to be a long development road. I suppose according to the standards of many muds we could say we are open for play and still in development, except that new code is coming in almost on a daily basis.

We've got a nice group of dedicated players and imms already. The numbers online fluctuate depending on the day of the week, but we have a group of about a half dozen regulars, plus a half dozen active imms, and about another half dozen stragglers.

As for what our game boasts, well we boast the majority of the D&D 3.5e system rules. We have all of the basic classes in the players handbook in except for sorcerers and also several prestige classes. Our current development focus is finishing class abilities for current classes that are thus far missing, fixing bugs, putting in epic levels, and doing the sorcerer class.

We're really a very unique thing in the mudding world and we're proud of what we've accomplished to date. We know how much better we're going to get, which is nice for us to say, because we're already a pretty good mud even with our not-yet-complete full D&D 3.5e rule-set.

So if you love D&D 3.5e, and have been looking for a true D&D 3.5e rules mud, like neverwinter nights in the mud world, then give us a try. You'll be glad you did.

See you on the mud!

Hello,

i've tested the mud today, trying the cleric class. There is some quite bugs that prevented me to end the character creation.

First, i didn't found the command to display spells memorized.

Second, it seems spells are memorized in another spell level than their true value:

30 Hp 1020 Sp > memo cleric summon monster i
All of your level 7 cleric spell slots are currently filled

I was unable to cast also spells:

30 Hp 1020 Sp > cast 'magic weapon'
Your prime requisite ability score is not high enough to cast spells of that level.

30 Hp 1020 Sp > cast 'summon monster i'
Your prime requisite ability score is not high enough to cast spells of that level.

altough i have 16 in wisdom.

Good job anyway and good luck to go further on this project.

Also: learn weapon focus in the feat room crashed the game.

Thanks for your bug reports, I will respond to each in turn. Though in the future it's probably best to post on our own forums instead of here in mudconnector for bug reports. Thanks all the same though, this helps us get better.

Most of your questions are actually answered further on in the character creation mud school.

First, i didn't found the command to display spells memorized.

Second, it seems spells are memorized in another spell level than their true value:

1) for a cleric it's mem cleric

2) for a cleric it's mem cleric spellname. In the case of spell names with multiple words separate each name with a dash. mem cleric cure-light. Also as a cleric, if you are good, you don't have to memorize cures. You can cast the using spontaneous casting. Just type spontaneous to turn it on and then all spells you cast will be cures of the same level. If you are evil they will be inflict spells, and if you are neutral you can choose which you prefer by using the declareaffinity command.

I was unable to cast also spells:

3) the cleric command to cast spells is pray. So if you have the spell memorized you would type pray 'cure light' to cast it on yourself.

Also: learn weapon focus in the feat room crashed the game.

Thanks for this bug report. We're aware of the problem and are currently seeking a solution and the time to fix it :)

Thanks Daed, see you on the mud!

Well we've made some progress over the last week or so with development. We've implemented the sorcerer class as well as bonuses and penalties to exp when grouped with same or opposing alignments. We've also fixed some more bugs including the bug mentioned in the previous post of weapon focus crashing the game.

We're always welcoming to new faces, so if you like D&D or Forgotten Realms, we're sure you have a lot of fun with us.

On a side note has anyone played around the the D&D Tiny Adventures facebook app? It's a pretty fun way to pass away the drudgery at work.

Hi all,

Another update. Our playerbase is steadily growing, after being open only a month, we have a norm of 5-6 people on at any given time, with peaks of around 8-10. We also have some players who are away temporarily, and expect that number to rise not only with this update, but as they return as well.

We've implemented the maximize spell and extend spell metamagic feats, much to the joy of mages, who were lagging behind sorcerers a little in some ways. They use metamagic points instead of using higher level spell slots, which we felt would have been too complicated for players to use.

We've also added the tbaMUD quest editor, and have started making quests for it. We're working hard on adding more equipment to the game as we were lacking in that regard, aside from random treasure, and it helps give our players purpose and something to strive for past the simple level grind.

We've switched the account experience system from automatic random gains, to rewards for role play and philothranpic game play only. This will help quell the mass amounts of rare advanced races we were seeing, and encourage role play and being helpful to others and the game itself. We feel both will enhance the game experience greatly.

Coming soon are some epic level zones, and epic level rules themselves. We're still focusing on bug fixing as there were quite a few from our 3 years of develoment without consistent testing. We expect to be out of the development phase in 3-6 months. The switch won't impact the players, it is just a formal declaration of being mostly stable with few hotreboots or crashes, and with none or at least very few bugs and loopholes.

We thank everyone who has checked us out, and especially those who liked things enough to stay and play. Running a mud is hard work, and can drive one batty at times, but it's very rewarding as well, and I'm glad to see all of our hard work is finally giving people some enjoyment. Not many think of it this way, but creating muds can be used as a tool of serving others, and I feel blessed to be given the talents and opportunity to do so. Plus I really enjoy playing myself.

Looking forward to welcoming even more new faces to our fold. We're a friendly bunch and everyone of us agrees the game is a blast to play.

See you on the mud!
