For years a few friends and I have played many a game based on the popular series in the hopes that we'd finally find something interesting with real lasting power! We were all a lot younger then, and though the series was a tad ridiculous it wasn't hard to admit that the MUDs we played were fun. I personally have played dozens, some that were mere clones of another, others that were fantastic but tragically laid to rest before their time.

We've felt that the potential to make the games we played into something great was always there... if only we could make our voices heard! Though I've been patient enough to wait this long in the hopes that something would arise... I think it's time I stepped up and tried to get something started, whether I begin the creation of a new game or join one already in progress! Either way I would very much enjoy discussing my ideas to revolutionize the genre with other builders and coders alike.

Listen to my ideas, build upon them, even steal them--go ahead! All I care about is ramping up the fun level whether or not I receive any sort of recognition whatsoever.

If you're a builder or a coder(especially a coder)interested in brainstorming please contact me! Owners of Dragonball-based games already in progress may absolutely feel free to contact me as well, or even those who just want to get your own ideas out there. I am a dedicated, enthusiastic individual who'd love to dust off his rusty old building skills and am wide open to new ideas.

I can be contacted at my email or:

Yes, it's true! There are DBZ fans that can spell and even use grammar correctly. Although, I've been under the impression that they all eventually bailed on games of the genre quite some time ago due to the stagnation, among other things. I haven't played on one in years now, personally, although before that I used to be a fan of it.

I think you may have some insurmountable challenges ahead of you in regard to trying to do much at all with the theme. Primarily, finding ways to make it interesting, largely from a story/roleplay sort of aspect. Creating a game that has numerous code and feature improvements over others is a relatively simple process. The problem is that the theme has a very simple formula for the story that becomes unnervingly repetitive all too soon.

That's not to say that it can't be made to be interesting (to people with long attention spans). It'll just take considerable amounts of creativity to do so.

Anyhow, I wish you good luck with your project as well.

Heh! Thanks for the good will! I know it's going to be a challenge but it's something I've wanted to attempt for quite some time. Succeed or fail I won't know what'll happen until I've tried, right?

I think I've got my creative juices flowin' pretty well though. Over the years as I've seen the games "progress" there really has only been one thing: more standing around and waiting for the thing you're hitting to die so you can kill it... again. Since most of them are essentially clones of one another and the only thing added is another special attack to spam your vision with(I've got enough focus! Hit F2, hit F2! The excitement! It's dead! K fighter; F2 F2!!!) it is definitely stagnant. More than stagnant--it's rotting in the sun.

Dragonball FE was a step away from that with its reaction-based system, but then that had its own set of problems and same-ness after a while. Not to mention that the style turned away the more casual player(or the slow typist). I believe that incorporating something similar into the more mundane means of training might be in order, to strike a balance between the two where it might be appropriate. After all, even a little bit of relaxed battle spam ain't such a bad thing in small doses; you run into a problem when that's all there is.

We must also not forget that while the average DBZ fan reportedly has a short attention span... it's UNCANNY how they'll glue themselves to it. It just might have lasting power if it can raise even one tiny notch over the stagnant seas.

I wish you the best of luck. I used to enjoy DBZ MUDs for awhile, until it became the same thing over and over. No newer ideas seem to be added to the mix and most MUDs these days are just rehashes of dated concepts.

If you get anything going, I'd love to see your work! Good luck!
