kikyo,
I wish you the best of luck in finding a coder
who actually codes to actually code for you.
While you're waiting for that person to show
up, I'd like to ask you something.
From your post, you are aware that it is hard to
get coders for some reason. I don't actually know this
for sure, but it seems that way from the posts on
this site.
Even though it's hard to find such a person, you're
looking to corral one and get them to help you make
a DBZ mud.
My first question is, what is so great about your
new DBZ mud that a good coder would want to work
for you for free? You say you're "willing" to offer
co-ownership...but aside from that, what is the
advantage to the coder? Why is it better to follow
your orders than for them to just set up their own
mud without you?
In fact, I'm also curious as to what the advantage
is to you. Now, please, don't take this as a flame,
I am genuinely, truly curious. Why do you want to
start a mud, and more specifically, why do you want
to start a DBZ mud? There are, apparently, a few
muds out there with a DBZ theme. What will make yours
worth playing on more than a DBZ mud that's
been running for a while, with a solid playerbase
and good coders already?
I'm asking these questions for two reasons.
First, I'm for-real curious about it. In my opinion
there are already of muds, some DBZ, run by people who
(presumably) know what they're doing and have a lot
to offer new coder and new players. So I'm curious
about your reasoning behind trying to start one,
despite not knowing what you're doing.
Second, in answering my questions, you will demonstrate
to potential coders that you have actually thought
these things through, have a solid plan and host,
and maybe even that you're squared-away enough to
be trusted with their trust, allegiance, and sweat.
Thanks.
