hey.
i'm looking for some work. first, i've never built on a mud though i've been playing for quite a time.
i've played around with the dead-souls-mudlib a bit but instead of starting my own mud i'd rather contribute to something (worth contributing to!). so i do have a little experience in lpc (basically all the muds i've played were lp-muds).
i don't care what kind of mud: rpi or h&s, sci-fi or medieval (i've playend and enjoyed them all), but i want to work with people who a)care about what they are doing, b) are laid-back and mature and c)have respect for the players.
i don't care if your mud is already up and running or far away from that point. if i like it and if you have some unique ideas, i promise, i'll put lots of work into it (but as i said, i'm a beginner but fast learner). so write me a mail or just response.

i really want to do this!
thanks for listening.

by the way: if you run a diku/rom/whatever-mud, don't hesitate to ask, please.

i really like room descriptions with several layers (example: look, look at wall, look at crack in wall,...you get the idea.)

(Comment added by Quewill on Tue Nov 14 19:06:53 2006)

i forgot: please, only muds that are free to play! and i mean free to play all the way (no credits, no pay-real-money-for cool-swords...)

If you'd like to assist me you're more than welcome--we're a
bit short on
builders.

I'm running a fantasy-themed CircleMUD 3.1 with OasisOLC
2.0.6 and DG Scripts 1.0.13. The MUD is currently in pre-
beta; we've only been up for a month or two. From your post
I'm assuming that you're not familiar with OasisOLC or DG
Scripts, and if you aren't I'd be more than happy to teach you.
(And I find it's extremely easy to learn.) You can find more
information about us under the TMC Listing.

Hello,
Not sure if you're still looking, but Anointed of Sira is looking for help. I do not want to give the address publicly yet because of being vastly underdeveloped. So, if you're interested in building on a Medieval Fantasy Smaug, please send a reply to the e-mail above, and I can give you any details that you would like to know.

Thank you,
Belerik

Hey there Quewill (and any other builders looking for work). I just started up a Battlestar Galactica MUD last week and we are definately looking for new builders. I know our newbie area needs some work and there are a lot of ships prototypes to build also.

We will teach anyone who wants to learn to build, so come on in and check it out.

I don't understand what you mean by 'look wall crak and so forth', could you please elaborate?
What defines a hero is this: a determination to conquer, a mine of marvelous schemes, an ability to encompass the realm, and the will to make it his.

I believe extra descriptions are what they are referencing.

That's what it sounds like to me but he specifically said 'very advanced room desc system'. I was just wondering what the advanced part was. Last I checked you'd be hard pressed to find a mud without extra description capabilities, naturally I assume there is more to it. Unless he is talking about it being 'advanced' in the sense that my grandmother is of 'advanced' age.

It is true that it is difficult to find a MUD that does not have the capabilities of the addition of extra descriptions in rooms or objects. But it is equally as difficult to find builders who actually know what extra descriptions are and can use them to add extra depth to their areas. I think its to do with the methods of building tutition implemented on a lot of MUDs. A lot of the MUDs that I have worked on were solely interested in "bare bones" building (just room descriptions, objects and sometimes mob descriptions - boring... ) probably to speed up production (whatever! ) I'm not sure my ex-bosses ever checked my areas' extra descriptions - it was nice when players commented about them (they actually read the descriptions and found the secret areas, etc) but I don't think they found -all- of the descriptions (mortal/immortal references *whistles* ) When I was bored or angry I used to go from Good Builder to Evil Builder in 4 seconds - enough said. (If I wanted one I'll never find another building job again now! *laughs*)

Back to the matter in hand, I wish Quewill the best of luck of finding a good MUD to work for if he/she has not found one already.
