I have recently started out on what seems to be a long and arduous journey to become a coder, or at least to understand the basics.
So I have installed the latest version of cygwin and succeeded (finally ;) in configuring and make'ing circle 3.1 under cygwin.
Now, when I try to execute my Circle.exe file i get this error: SYSERR: Fatal error changing to data directory: No such file or directory.
After running 'autorun', which actually seems to do work for a while, I have some lines in syslog which might help you. After resetting a bunch of stock areas, there are five lines: Boot db -- done Entering game loop. No connections. Going to sleep. SYSERR: Recieved SIGHUP, SIGINT, or SIGTERM. Shutting down... (I have a feeling this is where I pressed Ctr-c, getting frustrated that nothing happend ;)
I've read a bunch of helpfiles, some of which actually seemed helpful, but to no avail in the end. I hope my ignorance is blatantly obvious to someone out there, who will have mercy on me and reply in between the hysterious fits of laughter.
With hope & trust in the mudding community, Massaria.

Ctrl-C sends a SIGHUP, so you're probably right about that.
Uhm, this might be a *really* stupid question, but did you actually try to connect to the MUD? Because your log shows no connetion attemps...

Edit: I meant, of course, that Ctrl-C sends a SIGINT. Man I'm off my game today...

Well, I did try to connect via telnet without much success. But that may have to do with me not having the slightest idea how to connect to my own computer. I have to admit I figured the initial greetings would pop up after i ran the thing ;) *Bonks himself on the head for no apparent reason* If you could tell me how to connect with zmud, secondarily telnet, I would be grateful.

Don't bother replying, and excuse me for taking up space.
I've figured it. ('telnet localhost 4000'... just in case ;) My advice to other newb coders who want a working base to fool around with: If the help files doesn't help, read more help files ;)

Don't feel bad, I had a similar problem the other day. I just couldn't figure out why I couldn't connect to my own server, on my own comp. I was of course using the correct port, and localhost..But I had Zmud setup to connect through a proxy, and apparently I can't connect to myself through my own proxy. :P Not quite the same, but similar, and I felt like a goof.
