When I first heard of cmud, Zugg was making it a whole new product line foregoing the old "upgrades are free" deal.It is a new line, and "upgrades are free" have a catch. I'll quote a little from the CMUD forum on
Zuggsoft"Customers who have purchased zMUD since July 1st, 2005 can obtain a free license for CMUD
during the CMUD beta period."
"Customers who have purchased zMUD since Sept 5th, 1999 (the date Zugg and Chiara got married...had to pick something!) can obtain a license for CMUD at half-price
during the CMUD beta period."
The key point is the discount for zMUD customers is only good while CMUD is still beta. So get it while you can.
"The upgrade policy for CMUD is different than zMUD. You will get free upgrades to CMUD for 2-years after your initial purchase. That's it. Any version released after 2-years from your original purchase will cost half-price of whatever the cost of CMUD is at that time."
Stepping away from the free upgrades for the life of the product is a good financial move on his part, and 2 years is a good while for new versions. Most software that do this kind of thing only go for 6 months to a year. Not to mention half price after that time (which would kick in a new 2 year free upgrade period) is great.
Rock on Zugg, rock on.
