In this reviewers opinion Sindome is a MOO slowly disappearing into
the void of its own bleak-future setting. With its playerbase ever
decreasing and its staff becoming ever more apathetic, attempts to
improve or offer constructive critisism are met with personal attack
and ridicule amongst the staff and elite who's only concern is their
personal ego.

New players simply do not exist here, you either belong to the staff
and oldbie elite or, as a potential new player, you are quickly
targetted as vulnerable newbie to be exploited, ridiculed and finally
destroyed. Of course, this active abuse of new players is always
defended as 'Cyberpunk', a term which in any other M* would be
referred to as powerplaying and vigorously discouraged, but here the
apathetic staff just turn a blind eye or even join in the 'fun'.

Having attempted to play Sindome on and off for nearly 4 years I find
it a worrying trend that with each passing year and visit things have
become steadily worse. There has been very little, if any, advancement
in the game world and the playerbase is smaller on every visit with an
almost incestuous core group protecting their own interests at any
expense.

The staff, I've found, are only capable of repeating the mantra
"Find out ICly" to any and every question, even on one baffling
occasion in reply to an OOC question about command syntax. They also
demonstrate amazing double standards. An example of which was shown
when, in the course of play, I somehow managed to best one of the
games oldbies in combat and send him to the 'clone bank' (character
save). The 'rule' selectively imposed in this situation is that a
cloned character suffers from short term memory loss and will have no
memory of events leading up to his/her death. Supposedly this is done
to discourage grief play and rampant PVP, but in this instance the
player strangely managed to carry out a revenge perma-kill (no
clone/save) and recover his belongings within minutes. The staff
member I contacted after this concluded, at great length, that while
it was against the games rules I should "just deal with it" if I
wanted to continue playing.

Despite this lax enforcement of a well known rule, other 'unwritten
rules' are often arbitrarily enforced without warning and in the most
draconian manner with newbies frequently hauled out of play and mauled
by staff for the most minor of transgressions.

Good roleplay, even in a Cyberpunk setting, should be a collaborative
effort to build a believable alternate reality. Instead, new players
on Sindome are attacked from all sides, IC and OOC, player and staff,
in the name of 'Cyberpunk'.

It's also worth noting that every positive review of Sindome here on
Mudconnect is written by the games staff and oldbies after an appeal
on their forums good reviews to be submitted. The only genuine
unbiased reviews from actual new players are, strangely enough, the
negative ones citing bad staff, bad attitudes and zero help as reasons
not to play.

One for the masochistic roleplayers out there, if you can endure the
pain of playing then the world itself is quite rich and detailed,
although very static in the long term. And who knows, one day you too
might be 'cyberpunk' enough to ridicule a newbie.

Thank you for this, just reading it I can feel the sincerity behind
it. We are very thankful that we didn't have too find this out by
playing, and will abandon the account we made.

Funny thing is, we are looking for a new game because of the very
thing you experienced, but in a different MUD.
