I've played plenty of games where people could fabricate practically any "reason" to randomly kill someone.

The REAL reason usually was the enjoyment of griefing another random player, wanting to loot something off of them, not liking the player behind the character and wanting upset them, for the thrill of PK... you name it.

But the "in character" reason was something as thin as some social faux pas, something obscure from their backstory used as a justification for something about the person "triggering" them in some way or another... you name it.

Just because someone has a "reason" such as:

Quote
character just did something that annoyed the crap out of another character

or

Quote
character looked just like some other character that someone wanted to kill

or

Quote
character was wearing red on the blue day

Or any other number of similar, contrived, reasons, doesn't make it any more legitimate or any less random because they were able to back it up with a (potentially, purposefully crafted) character concept that allows for random killing.

Its also way too easy to write a deep, comprehensive character background and personality profile that builds certain characteristics, consistently play those traits for weeks or months, and simply use them as your "excuse" (or, ahem, "reason" or "justification") for randomly killing another player, but in a way that is consistent with your character so that you skirt any sort of rules or discerning eye for doing it randomly.  You just have to show the exercise and patience to space out griefing other players.

If VegetaBle ArrestedGoat believes he was randomly targeted, he probably was and if it wasn't random, its still possible some OOC or meta reason is why he was killed... That is the simplest solution, the straightest line between two points.

But don't worry VegetaBle, if you were randomly targeted... the player likely got a note send to them.  Ya know, who gives a crap you lost your character and had a very unpleasant introduction to the game, nothing is being restored, and the player who killed you isn't suffering anything... they might have had the harsh punishment of having to read a few lines of private text!

Jeez, I hope I never have an Admin ever send me a note, that sure will keep me in line!

Hades_Kane this is a PROMOTION thread. If you and others want to gripe about Armageddon, do it elsewhere. The documentation of the game is clear: https://www.armageddon.org/intro/about.php

It's assumed that people trying Armageddon for the first time would at LEAST check out the "About" section, so they have some idea of what they're getting themselves into.

Seriously, if there were fairness in the world, Hades post needs to be vaulted.

Hades_Kane this is a PROMOTION thread.

I dunno, there are so many plugs for your sh** hole I have a hard time understanding what makes this one holy ground.

It's assumed that people trying Armageddon for the first time would at LEAST

Once again, with all the advertisements existing simultaneously at any give time it's hard to understand why a person should need to go read an about page to know what they're getting into. Sounds like an excuse for poor behavior.

At least I never shied away from admitting I have problems. Kind of another thinh when you're trying to snatch up as much new blood as you can, and we get another 50 page thread on the conduct of staff. I was offensive at times, but it really takes a calculated effort to deceive people into joining a game when you have so many consistent complaints.

Also, this is a GAME promo thread.... you're promoting bull****. Just speaking aloud a general sentiment.

I'm new around this forum and even I know that constructive criticism is allowed in this subforum. There's been plenty of good constructive criticism at that. Maybe go through this thread post by post and address the glaring problems Armageddon has that makes it a stain on the overall MUD community instead of complaining that someone is pointing the problems out?

AKA its okay for you to derail the post but the moment you are challenged its time to move it elsewhere?

Arma is okay as a game. But I think no one is left that wants to play with me. My characters often got ignored the last time I played. I miss a few players who are gone now. I might go back if those players came back.

If you played any of these characters please PM me if you want to reminsce: Iasion, Fanny, Talis and Sheris Keshmar, Ruke, Raleris, Dragean, and Youko.

This post pulled me into looking at Armageddon again after a long hiatus but I have to say, the game seems to be a shadow of its former self. Tuluk being gone and the toxic community are two kicks in the gut for me.

I'm sure I'll check back in every few months or so, considering I played Arm in the early 2000s up until late 2016, but something about the game and the community within feels not the same as it used to. Unfortunate.

Hello fellow Tuluk player! Sadly I did not play any of those characters, but I did play with some of them before I went overseas!

I heard this game had a horrible community and thought the rumors were exaggerated. Tried the game anyway. Welp, found out the hard way that they weren't exaggerated at all.

I should have seen that alternate forum for the Armageddon players and seen that as a red flag.
