None.  Use of a proxy service obfuscates your own, personal IP Address.  That's obfuscate as opposed to hide or protect.  As far as end users vs server admins goes, server admins can instantly identify any IP Address as belonging to a proxy agency with a simple RIR WHOIS, and because of what Proxies are typically used for any server admin with any sense will lock those addresses out at the firewall level immediately when they identify a proxied IP.  People who think it actually does anything else for them are deluded about their level of tech savvy.

It's most commonly used as a first step toward trolling, hacking, downloading kiddie porn, or accessing "The Dark Web."  Proxy services won't protect you from being Identified by IP Address by either criminals or law enforcement (although the criminals have to have significant skills to do so, while law enforcement just needs a court order to get the proxy service's server logs and ID the IP Address they want ie the one you broke the law from, belonging to the proxy, vs the one you connected to the proxy from.  A real security/anonymity setup requires multiple proxy hits, which no such service provides - ie you'd have to be able to get Avast Proxy services to re-proxy through ProxyHulk, and then get ProxyHulk to use a hacked or otherwise available third proxy who doesn't have your credit card on file (to evade law enforcement) and isn't identifiable as an agency that resells proxy services (to evade bans by competent sitehosts).  At that point you're still traceable by checking the server logs on each of the daisy-chained proxies until your original connect-from IP is known, but it takes longer.

I suppose that a MUD Host could obfuscate their actual server address by use of a proxy to relay requests, but that's really incredibly stupid.  It'd nerf your performance and defeat its own purpose at the point where you point a registered domain name at it, unless you also paid for Registration By Proxy in which case your RL name/contact info isn't attached to the ICANN WHOIS data.

I removed the original post, because it was ad spam, that somehow passed the filters, but kept the comments, which seem to contain interesting info.
Maybe I should have deleted the entire thread, not sure.

Don't you dare second guess yourself Molly.

I'd upvote Jodah because second-guessing yourself is a gateway insecurity.  If you give in to it, the next thing you know you'll be trying 4 different hairstyles and 16 outfits before painting a house or going 4x4 mudbogging.

I'd also upvote removing the thread.  The title line is still ad spam, and I don't think I said anything (in my reply to Seppuku31415) that 80-90% of internet users don't already know.

Also coffee and danish.  I'd upvote coffee and danish.
