Bard/Paladin

Hi! I would like to roleplay a viable bard/paladin multiclass character. Where might I be able to do that?

Apparently I'm the only person on the planet that would like to portray that multiclass and its not implemented anywhere. Disappointing.

Lots of bards, lots of paladins, not a whole lot of multiclass.  Some games might have it but don't advertise it.

It is a possible combination on my publicly available Fantasy based d20mud code. but to my knowledge no one is running it, and I don't have the time to run another MUD.  You might want to give LuminariMUD a try.  It's also d20 based, made by some friends of mine, and it might have that combo available.

Cheers,

Another possibility is the CoffeeMUD codebase.  CoffeeMUD runs it's own MUD as well, but unsure if multiplay is enabled there.  It has both Paladin and Bard classes, and the codebase allows for multiplay very easily.  Here's a list of CoffeeMUD MUDs known about.

Hey Aarcerak,

CoffeeMUD could give you inspiration for a lot of Bard abilities.  Check here as well as http://www.coffeemud.net, as they have a number of Bard subclasses as well.

Cheers!

Just for the record, CoffeeMUD's system has classes and subclasses. You can multi-class within subclasses, but not across classes. So for example, Paladin base class is Fighter, as is Ranger, so you could mutli-class Ranger and Paladin (In theory, if the racial and alignment requirements were also met). However, Bard is its own base class, with subclasses such as dancer, minstrel, jester etc. Thus you could not multi-class Paladin/Bard there. =/

Don't know if you ever scratched this itch, but the only place I think you should be able to do this would be Tenebrae/Symbol of Ea. It's a MUSH, not a MUD, but since it's RP you're after, that's probably ideal for you.

The most likely deity would be Ceinara, http://www.tenebraemush.net/index.php/Ceinara, though she's CN. I don't remember if Paladins are restricted to the "One step" alignment rule in the same way as clerics are. You'd have to run it by staff.

Good luck!

Fair enough, if you're speaking of the official version.  The CoffeeMUD engine allows for different multi class setups, or no multiclassing at all.  For the sake of the OP's question though, yeah, thanks for the clarification.  Might be worth checking some of the other CoffeeMUDs that are running or being worked on, as it's a very simple thing in the CoffeeMUD settings to allow multiclassing with any combination of classes.

In addition, I'd like to mention LuminariMUD again.  It was selected for /r/MUD's MUD of the Month for January, and it's hopping right now with 15-20 people online at any given time.  It's a d20/Pathfinder codebase derived from tbaMUD and d20MUD, and it's quite a lot of fun.  Paladin/Bard is definitely doable.  Not sure it'd be the most powerful combo, but they both use Charisma, so it might work out, and it's definitely legit for RP purposes.  Anyways, check out LuminariMUD at luminarimud.com port 4100.

Yeah, I was referring to vanilla "CoffeeMUD" the game/official mud. LuminariMUD has me highly intrigued, now, though.

What's up with your dragonlance CoffeeMUD? I love the CoffeeMUD codebase, personally, but there really -aren't- any other CoffeeMUDs out there besides those two, and last I saw dragonlance was a sort of vortex project. I know you're super busy with the swd20 mud though, so that's not surprising.

This entirely depends on if you want a coded Bard/Paladin or you just want to play a Paladin that can sing and tell stories.

I ask this because while there are multiple Guilds and even Rogues on New Worlds Ateraan, the limit of your roleplay is only constrained by your imagination. I have seen Rogues have specific codes of honor that are similar to Paladins, Warriors of Philosophy, Magi that perform in the Theater (Functional Theaters exist here), and Clerics that sing. So anything is possible unless you desire a fully coded version of this multiclass.
