« on: December 22, 2017, 8:02 PM »
Awesome!  Almost a quarter of a century running - Deathwish had it's 23rd anniversary on Dec. 19th.  We just keep getting better with age!  =)   Stop by and have some Christmas fun at:  port 1111.

General Discussion / Deathwish MUD remembers our lost players.
« on: October 28, 2017, 11:38 AM »
In memory of our players from Honduras 1994-1998.
All disappeared in Hurricane Mitch on Oct. 29, 1998,
18,000 people were killed.
You are not forgotten.

Mud Promotions / Aaezure Odyssey MUD goes back to it's roots!
« on: June 09, 2017, 10:51 AM »
We are happy to announce that Aaezure Odyssey MUD is reverting
back to it's original name, "Deathwish MUD", the birth name we
were given on our creation in 1994.  Same great MUD, same
great staff, we're going home!
Stop on in and see us at: 1111
Welcome Home everyone!

Tripleplay Tuesday has been replaced by "Tripleplay Weekends" on Aaezure Odyssey.  From 11:59pm (Friday), to midnight (Sunday) EST every weekend, all players will be allowed to multiplay 3 characters at once if they wish!  This event will be for all day Saturday and all day Sunday every weekend.  This will be much better than a weekday for players to be able to participate.  Enjoy! 1111

LOL I was thinking of just sending:  idiot.mymudsucks 0000
hah!  Thanks for the suggestions guys.  =)

I was just considering something like that.. I just don't like that fact that legit new players will also have to suffer because of these scumbags.  It's not fair to them, but I can't think of any other way to address this problem.
I'm not worried about losing players, especially to something like that.  Our players stick around, some have been there since the 90s.  But that's exactly it, the people that do this have zero integrity, and it's just rude.  Thanks for the response. =)

General Discussion / Banning to new players
« on: July 29, 2016, 6:55 AM »
Is anyone else having problems with people using the TMC client to log onto mud after mud and advertise their POC mud?  These people are the scum of the earth, and their muds are always such junk it's no wonder they have  no players, but the rest of us who don't want to ban TMC wind up having to do so because of them.  It's a shame these low-lifes are using the TMC mud client to do this.  Ideas, suggestions?

Aaezure Odyssey normally allows 2 characters to be played at the same time - however we are introducing Tripleplay Tuesdays where from midnight(Mon) to midnight(Tue) EST every Tuesday, all players will be allowed to multiplay three characters at once! It's gonna get crazy! Come by and join the fun!  =) 1111

I've been trying to get Aaezure Odyssey put back on the big list for 2 weeks now.  Have emailed them several times and received no response.  Is this site not being maintained by anyone any more?

Mud Promotions / Aaezure Odyssey MUD has re-opened it's doors!
« on: May 24, 2016, 11:13 AM »
Good news! Aaezure Odyssey MUD is available for play again!  We're an
extremely well built, stable MUD that has been in operation since 1994 making it one of the oldest Circlemuds around. A mature, friendly staff, large world, loads of meticulous work and tons of bells and whistles make it a great place to call Home. If you've never tried it, you need to! We're on Facebook. New players welcome.  Old players get off your rusty-dusties and come home! 1111 .
Welcome home.  =)

Mud Promotions / Aaezure Odyssey doesn't need players.
« on: December 01, 2013, 4:01 PM »
Aaezure Odyssey needs PLAYERS. You must be able to read and speak
English.  After all, a MUD is a text adventure game - you have to read
to play it well and in fact to play it at all. We're looking for players with
problem-solving skills, that can decipher hints from room descriptions and
sometimes even solve riddles.  Players that peruse the help files when they
are stuck (because the staff will usually just direct them to the help file
anyway), and players that can follow a map.  Over the years our players have
trickled off one by one into other games, other countries, jobs, marriage and
child-rearing and such, and there is just a handful of dedicated players left.
It's sad to see such an awesome Mud dwindle down over the years from having
50 players a night to 5.
About the MUD:  Aaezure Odyssey started on a Circlemud codebase 20 years
ago back in 1994, making it one of the oldest Circlemuds still around.  We
have 15 races, 10 classes (4 remort classes), 50 mortal levels, menu-driven
remort system, eqsets, a Battleground for PK, short character creation,
stat-rolling and literally hundreds of neat little tidbits and features. The
world is large, challenging, and well-structured with few-to-none typos. Maps
of the hometowns and a world map for general direction in a nutshell are
available, and help files are abundant and kept accurate.  The rent system
has been changed to a "tax" system that, instead of paying rent when players
-aren't- playing, they pay "taxes" only for when they ARE playing. You will
not have to go to an Inn to log out, you will only need to be anywhere in
your hometown city limits to save and quit.
About the Staff:  There is always staff on 24/7 even if you can't see
them.  Every God on our staff is a mature adult with real life things such
as job and family that regularly interrupt our mudding time.  Everyone has
to get up and go to the bathroom, or wash the dishes, fix dinner, vacuum
the house, mop the floors and do various real life things.  Nobody can sit
in their computer chair staring at their monitor every minute of the day, but
some of us DO stay logged on.  Ask your question even if we're away from
the keyboard and someone will answer it as soon as they get back.
Aaezure Odyssey can be found at: 1111
Come join us and let the rest speak for itself.

One thing it needs is a mature and tactful response.
Actually he didn't describe every mud out there.  Aaezure Odyssey isn't run by teenagers and it's well designed and well built.  That is most certainly not a description of "every mud out there".  Care was taken to provide quality, not quantity, although it isn't small by any means.  I believe no link was posted probably because it has been listed on the Mud Connector for years along with all the links you have just described.
Don't be so lazy!  Let your fingers do the walking and the MUD do the talking.  There is no possible way to fit all of it's neat stuff into the posting limitations of this forum.  The name is "Aaezure Odyssey".  You can find it in the "A" section of alphabetical listings. :O!
Have an A1 Day!

Looks like this one was another fly-by-night hosting service.  They not only appear to be gone, but the owner of the domain has given me nothing but the run-around. I had moved my main mud, coding port, and building port over to this hosting service from the one that had been hosting us for the past 5 or so years.

Now they are gone, nobody will give me the name or email of anyone associated with 'Ubermud hosting', and guess what folks.. I suspect that they most likely have full copies of everyone's muds.

They did have fast servers etc, and great customer service - for all of about... 2 weeks.  I'll give them that.

The owner of the domain, whom I finally managed to find and contact, informed me that he had sold the domain to 'Ubermud' and that he no longer had anything to do with it.  However, the domain is still registered under his name. Still more run-around.  His name is David Riddle.  Has anyone ever heard of this person?  Does he have a rep that anyone knows about?  Should we have been more wary of him?  Does anyone know him from the MUD community?

Who knows if this hosting service was ever legitimate or not - but I do know that all of the Imps of the muds they were 'hosting' should be watching for any illegitimate copies of their muds out there.

I know we will be.

-Myst, Imp Aaezure Odyssey MUD

OLD General Discussions / What happened to Ubermud?
« on: May 22, 2005, 8:51 PM »
Why yes, I had a hosting problem.  But they definitely didn't have a solution... unless taking the servers offline and disappearing into the sunset is their idea of a solution.
Does anyone know anything about what happened to Ubermud???

Aaezure Odyssey is now being hosted by Genesismuds.  *sigh*

If there are any other Imps out there that were being hosted by Ubermud, please contact me if you have any info!

OLD Administrator's Forum / RE: To Trust Or Not To Trust
« on: July 17, 2003, 4:14 PM »
Well here are some solutions.  I have been running a mud for 9 years now.  I removed the "stat" command from Immortals EXCEPT for those granted OLC, and they may only use the stat command for the zone they are working on.

If you don't wish to limit your builders that much, there is a very simple solution that everyone seems to have missed, and that is to create a Builder's port.  You can set up a complete copy of your mud and bring it up on another port, minus ALL zones except for those necessary for mortals and immortals to enter the game in (usually 1 hometown and the god complex).  You simply assign them a zone number (making sure that zone does not already exist on the main mud) and let them have at it.  You don't even have to give them an Immortal on your main mud.

This way you can check over their entire zone for any "special" objects they may have created to cheat before you put the zone into the main mud.  Problem solved. =)
